She dropped it.

She dropped it and ran away. She was standing right in front of the door of her school, holding her book, getting prepared for her exam. A huge number of explosions followed the one the hit near her school. She stopped. Looking around, terrified, she saw police men crying, cars hurrying, kids running. The bombs continued. She didn’t know where to go. Her headmistress stopped taxi drivers to pick up the scared students. She stood there in silence. A bus with the back door open passed her, letting her see the dead bodies piled inside. Her eyes turned wide open. Her lips froze. Her hands shook. Her knees could no longer carry the heavy picture that has just passed. She tried to stand, but no one looked at her. Everyone was running . A teacher tried to reach her, but another bomb was dropped and the teacher got back behind the door of the school. The girl felt the ground shaking under her collapsed legs. Her hands shook more. She was still in shock. She knew air strikes very well. She always sees them on TV. She knows that this happened before. But, the bombs went on. They were telling her that this is not just a strike. This is one hundred strikes in a minute. This is a try to break the record, and you’re just one girl on the ground, shaking, gulping loads of smoke, paralyzed by fear. The teacher reached her, dragged her to a car, and closed the door.

  1. Following a link from Phil Weiss' site Mondoweiss to your site.

I was really shocked by the massacre called Cast Lead. Please accept my accuse for the troubles we Germans ultimately caused to Palestinians. This line of thought is always on my mind.

Maybe I shouldn't writes this, but I do now: Unfortunately it needed 911 in combination with the US reaction to wake me up from my complacency and ignorance about Palestinian history. Only when I read up on the history from a less biased perspective, I started slowly to understand what people had tried to tell me for several decades.

  2. Dear LeaNder,
First I want to thank you for being here and for taking the time to read some of what happened here.
Second, please do not blame yourself for what the Germans did; We do not blame the people. We know that the people have nothing to do with this, but we feel sorry that the people keep silent.
I am sure that having you on the side of justice will bring a change and add something to our cause.
I hope you'll visit this blog often. I appreciate your reply. Thank you

    Best,

  3. Hi there,
I followed from Mondoweiss too and he is a great writer and he wrote very movingly about you, and the Palestinian people in general. He is doing a great job. Many of the most outspoken people in defense of Palestinians and critical of Israel are Jewish-Americans. But the real powerful people and almost all of the politicians, literally like 95%, are completely devoted to Israel. To be honest, it is because it is a natural fit for Republicans and Democrats rely on wealthy Jewish contributors since campaigns here are very expensive "capitalist" ventures. Congressman and Senators literally spend 25% of their time raising money that they can spend mostly on television ads.

P.S. I understand Germany's historic role but it is very far removed from that - and what about Britain then! But today, it is the US which lavishly finances Israel, vetoes Security Council resolutions and prevents the international consensus of 2 states on the 1967 borders.

  4. Hello Mr Chrisco,
Yes I loved his article and I loved having that meeting with him. He is a great man.

Yes, israelis and the jewish lobby control the US government with money, and I frankly don't know how Americans let them. There's this image about israel in America that it's full of jews and they're being discriminated against. But it's the other way around. We are the ones that are being discriminated against. We're the ones locked in ghettos. Our children are the ones who die. We have tried every peace process israel wanted to go through but on the ground nothing happened. More lands were stolen and more settlements were built.

I understand how Europeans feel about the past, but I assure you, we Palestinians are looking ahead with hope that people of countries like Britain and Germany will help us restore the peace that was stolen from us, and will help us gain our freedom back. Your support matters lot to us. As for the US, I believe that the people once they're convinced with the truth about our situation, they'll support us too.
I want to thank you so much for being here and for bothering to view my blog.

    1. Thanks for your reply. You have more confidence in Americans than me. This is the country that re-elected Bush so I am not so sure we learn the truth that well:).

I do have it easy here and I know how hard it is there. Let me know if I can help in any way, if I can send anything that might be useful. In the meantime, I will be sure to be active in the peace & justice movements that support the Palestinians. But it is like David & Goliath and we know who Goliath is now.
